FAQ
Questions IT and ops actually ask.
- We already use a desktop badge tool. How hard is migration? +
- Export your roster as CSV or Excel and bring it in with the column-mapping importer, so you keep the records. Templates from other tools can't be imported. Rebuild yours from one of our starters, or use Scan card to turn a photo of an existing badge into an editable template. You can be printing badges the same afternoon.
- Do you support our card printer? +
- Almost certainly. We hand a print-ready PDF to your OS print dialog, so any card printer with a Windows or macOS driver works (Fargo, Zebra, Magicard, Evolis, IDP, the lot). We've added recommended-settings tips for popular models to save you fiddling with the driver UI; for exotic hardware you'll just pick 'Other / Generic CR-80' and the standard print path takes care of the rest.
- What about RFID, MIFARE, iCLASS encoding? +
- Encoding is on the roadmap, with no date yet. It will need a small helper app on the printer's computer, because browsers can't drive PC/SC readers directly. If you need RFID today, email us. Knowing who needs it helps us decide when to build it.
- Magnetic stripe? +
- Mag stripe encoding (Track 1/2/3, ISO 7811) is on the roadmap, with no date yet. Browsers can't talk to stripe encoders directly, so it will need a local helper on the printer's computer, the same as RFID.
- Does it run on Windows / macOS / Linux? +
- It runs in any modern browser. No install. Operators on Windows and macOS use Chrome 111+. Kiosk mode works on iPad and Android tablets.
- Can different organizations or sites have their own branding? +
- Yes. Each organization on your account has its own brand color and its own set of templates, so every school, office, or site keeps its own look. Logos go into the templates themselves.
- Photo retention and compliance? +
- Photos are encrypted at rest and scoped to your organization. Automatic retention windows are on the roadmap; today an admin deletes a person and their photos from the app, or you can ask us to. Every print and reprint is logged. SOC 2 hasn't started yet.
- How do I sign up? +
- Click 'Start free' and you're in. Sign up with your email and a password, name your organization, and design your first badge. The free trial covers your first 10 printed cards with no time limit, which is perfect for a single-classroom pilot or a one-off small event.
